For today, I have prepared a very special post. I am going to write about #dollstagram parties. I wanted to do this for quite some time, and now it’s the perfect moment, since I have my first Christmas doll party coming. And you are all invited! The details are on the invitation down below.
Doll parties are awesome! I personally love them! So far, I did host a few, including one for Halloween, one for my 1st anniversary on dollstagram, one for my birthday and so on.
I remember my first doll party. It was a year ago, for Halloween. I was so unprepared for that event. I had no experience at all. But it was awesome and now, my fear has turned into pure excitement.
In my opinion, #dollstagram parties are the best way to show appreciation to the people who follow you and are engaged in your content and nonetheless, to all those hidden amazing accounts. Why this? Well, because you can share every picture from the event, and many accounts get to be seen, which is amazing. I discovered so many great accounts through my parties. I don’t always have the time to do shoutouts, and I am so sorry for that, and there are so many great doll accounts that deserve recognition, so hosting a party can be the perfect way to show some love. Also, hosting a #dollstagram party can bring an engagement boost to your page, which is not bad, right? You get to be seen as well. I think that instagram parties are a great way to connect people from a certain community and that’s the most awesome thing ever. Showing love to one another.
I have so much fun whenever I host a doll party. It is time consuming, I’m not going to lie, but it’s a great way to get creative. And I love being creative.
On the way, I learned some stuff about hosting a party and I want to share with you a few tips that might help you if you ever consider hosting a virtual party for your dolls. Also, you guys asked me some questions so I’ll make sure to answer all those with this post.
TIP 1 – THE ANNOUNCEMENT
I like to make the announcement at least a month before. In this way, we can avoid having an increased number of parties in the same day. This Halloween was crazy! I remember the day before Halloween, I attended 5 or 6 parties. Imagine that! It was beautiful, but I wasn’t able to take pictures for every event. I made a post for all of them, and it’s pretty unfair, because everyone deserves love and appreciation. We have an amazing account who keeps track of every event in our community – @dollstagramcommunityevents. I highly recommend taking a look over there every once in a while, if your dolls like to party.
2 – EVERY GUEST DESERVES RECOGNITION
This is my rule number one. IF I EVER HOST A PARTY I WILL MAKE SURE TO SHARE EVERY PICTURE FROM THE EVENT. EVERY SINGLE ONE! No one is left behind. I think it would be rude (ahem ahem), especially if the amount of guests is not that big, to not share every post. People put so much effort into creating a picture for you, for your event. I had more than 1000 posts for my last party (#alerickwedding), and no one was left unnoticed. It took so much energy and 4 days to share everything but I did it. This is the least I can do for my audience and for my guests. This is my way of giving back love to everyone who constantly show me love. That will never change.
3 – PLAN AHEAD
Whenever I decide to host a doll party, I like to plan anything ahead. The outfits, the decorations, everything, no matter if I make them or buy them. I don’t want to wake up on the party day and not have things ready. More than that, I usually take the pictures a few days before the party. If I am doing this, it allows me to have more time to focus on my guests. For #alerickwedding, I took me 2 weeks of daily work, especially because I did all by myself. And it was worth it! For my upcoming Christmas party, I bought the decorations from @paperinadoll (hi dear Joanna!), yet I wrote to her more than a month before the event. Just to make sure everything gets here in time. So plan ahead if you want to make things easier for you. I find planning so satisfying, it’s crazy.
4 – THE THEME & THE DRESSCODE
Having a party theme is so much fun. I love coming up with party themes, but I don’t really like to impose a certain dresscode. At my parties, dresscodes are optional. Take the #alerickwedding for example. The party theme was amethyst crystals, but I never asked for people to dress in purple. It was optional. Well, only the bridesmaids, but they had an important role in this event. Sometimes, it’s hard to follow a red dresscode for example, if you are a feed freak like I am and your feed theme is focusing on green. It happened to me a few times, and I had to cheat my feed, haha. This is not a major problem or a big deal, but I like to give people freedom to dress their dolls however they like. It’s much more easy. For my Christmas party for example, the dresscode is festive and right after that, I wrote whatever festive means to you, so people can have freedom of choice.
5 – CO HOST
Me and Henna (hi Henna, love you!) from @elliefromfinland are born on the same day, 22.04.1994. How cool is that!? So we decided to host a birthday party together. It was so much fun! Even though we didn’t do a very big event, because we were in lockdown at that moment, it was so amazing! I got to know her, the girl behind the camera and we became such good friends. So, if you have a good friend on this platform, go ahead and ask to co host a party! This party will bring you so much closer!
6 – THE INVITATION
For my invitations, I am using the UNFOLD APP. It’s really easy to play with and it has some nice features. Here are some examples.
7 – HAVE FUN!
Actually, this is rule number one. HAVE FUN, MY DEAR! Hosting a dollstagram party can bring you closer to your community. It can boost your page. You will be amazed by the energy a doll party can bring you. You can meet new talented people. You will have so much fun, I promise.
And now, the answer for some questions I got about this topic.
Q: ARE THERE ANY UNSPOKEN RULES ABOUT WHO CAN ATTEND A DOLL PARTY?
A: ANYONE CAN ATTEND A DOLL PARTY!
Try to make things clear for your audience that anyone can attend the party. I get this question quite often. About who can attend a doll party. And now I will answer for myself. Everyone and every doll can attend my parties! No matter the doll brand or the doll account, Barbie, Blythe, Bratz, My Scene, Integrity, LOL, American Girl, Fresh Dolls, everyone is welcome to join. Anyone can come as a guest and I would be more than happy to have you at my events.
Q: WHAT KIND OF PARTIES DO YOU THINK PEOPLE JOIN BETTER?
A: IT DOESN’T MATTER!
I don’t think it matters what kind of party are you hosting, my dear. As long as it makes you happy. People in our community like to party so it really doesn’t matter, as long as it is fun and exciting. Just have fun.
Q: HOW LONG BEFORE HAVING A PARTY DO YOU START PLANNING?
A: A MONTH, EVEN TWO MONTHS BEFORE.
It depends on how big the party will be. But usually, a month before. Try not to stress about this. This is a reason to be happy and joyful, not stressed.
Q: WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DOLL PARTY OF THE YEAR?
A: MY UPCOMING CHRISTMAS PARTY!
I already know this will be my favorite party of 2020. Mostly because it’s my first doll Christmas party and I absolutely adore Christmas. And with all that’s going on in the world right now, I don’t think we will be able to throw real Christmas parties, so doll parties are really welcome. I am looking forward for next year!
